What We Are About...Balance

There is no such thing as 'Natural Balance' in the terms that people perceive it.

Balance takes work and one nudge will not put it back into the so-called 'Natural Balance' because this is too much of a simple solution. However, it doesn't have to be 'hard' or take huge 'determination'; the key to it is that it takes understanding.

Balance comes from Holistic approaches from Holism*. The attributes of holism are total, balanced, mind, body, spirit and whole.

Oxford Languages Definition:

holistic

  1. adjective characterised by the belief that the parts of something are interconnected and can be explained only by reference to the whole.
  2. characterised by the treatment of the whole person, taking into account mental and social factors, rather than just the symptoms of an illness.

None of us are the same thus there should not be an emphasis on trying to make all companion animals the same by using one approach for addressing matters which we as humans think are issues or problems with our companion animals.

We have come to a place in time where there seems to be an All Or Nothing approach to issues whether it's 'Training'** or their Feeding regime.

There seems to be this idea that one is either Training** a dog with military-style precision or treating it like a baby with no training. Neither of these is correct for the Holistic Health & Well-being of the animal. Using Forceful, Negative Reinforcement Style practices has been proven by science not to work and can actually increase certain behaviours which are dangerous to humans, the animal itself, and other animals.

On the other hand, we do not want to treat the animal like a spoilt brat either with no specific emphasis on them being an animal with the needs of that specific species and not the needs of a human baby! That is not to say that we cannot have emotional attachment and feelings towards an animal as if it was a human baby and to suggest any lesser is actually falling into the trap of not understanding the emotional intelligence of animals as a whole. Animal emotional intelligence has been studied more in recent years and to fail to incorporate the findings is failing to give them the best quality of life. With Trust, Respect, Understanding & Patience (TRUP) we can enlighten ourselves about the needs of animals, and in turn, they guide us to keep them safe in our world. If we learn to become still and quiet, and by listening and tuning into them we will achieve great things with great responsibility in caring for them achieving all desired outcomes. I am here to guide and empower Pet Parents to be able to understand what is needed for the Behavioural and Emotional Well-being of their companion animals.

Remember Humans are Animals too-we are Mammals too.

In regard to their Feeding regime again there seems to be this All Or Nothing approach that leaves Pet Parents confused and overwhelmed in trying to do their best given the conflicting information out there as well as wondering if they are giving their companion animals all the right nutritional balanced diet. There is a reason why it needs to be balanced and that is to get optimum nutritional value with all the vitamins and minerals required for best health. This is not achieved as well as we have been lead to believe with commercial, processed kibble/biscuits and wet food. With great marketing, many a pet parent and veterinarian professional has been duped into believing it is the case.

Then on the other side of the spectrum, there is Raw Food which comes with its own complications. Whether it is the thoughts of handling raw meats, the misinformation about food poisoning or wondering whether your companion animal is getting a full nutritional balanced diet being Fed Raw, there are so many questions.

However, there is an area in the middle that has been totally overlooked! The area of Feed Fresh, Unprocessed, Home-cooked Wholefoods, with all the Nutritional Value needed. I am here to change this view and to guide and empower Pet Parents to be able to do this type of feeding simply.

*Holism (from Greek ὅλος holos "all, whole, entire") is the idea that various systems (e.g. physical, biological, social) should be viewed as wholes, not merely as a collection of parts. The term "holism" was coined by Jan Smuts in his 1926 book Holism and Evolution.

**I believe the word 'Training' is an outdated term of reference, especially in the canine world. The definition of Dog Training is to place the values of the human onto the animal rather than understanding the needs of both parties, human and canine. Yes, we need to keep them safe. However, do we need to force them into positions that might be physically uncomfortable for them such as a 'Sit' for example?
